Friends of the Woodlawn Preserve
Volunteers from Woodlawn gather to improve and advocate for the Woodlawn Preserve. Clearing trails, hosting cleanup days and monitoring activity, the dedicated volunteers work to maintain the preserve's natural ecosystem.
The Friends of the Woodlawn Preserve operates as a non-profit organization dedicated to the re-establishment, protection and preservation of a forever wild pine barren environment
within that tract of land known as The Woodlawn Preserve. Our goals are achieved by fostering community involvement through education and collaboration with local
organizations, schools, municipalities and businesses.

Exciting News for 2020!!
The Woodlawn Preserve Geocache Challenge as proposed by Boy Scout Troops 3357 and 3065 has received approval from the Schenectady Foundation Thriving Neighborhoods Challenge. We will be meeting with the Foundation later in the month to discuss first steps in implementing the program. Congratulations to the Boy Scouts for a well thought out project!
More good news - our proposed project for wetland enhancement to control Phragmites australis has been selected for funding in 2020. "This project was contracted by the Capital Region (PRISM) Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management using funds from the Environmental Protection Fund as administered by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation." More details will follow via email, newsletter, and on our Facebook page.
With entry points on Gifford Road and behind Woodlawn Elementary School, the preserve is part of a larger pine barrens ecosystem.
